Unit Converter

Offline conversions with explicit unit distinctions

Get it from the official store ↗

Unit Converter from Aivio Apps is for everyday metric, imperial and technical conversions on Android. Enter a value, choose the unit pair and read the updated result.

Conversions are often small tasks with surprisingly important labels. A number copied from a recipe, a specification or a travel distance may be correct while its unit is misunderstood. Aivio's Unit Converter focuses on that everyday step rather than a full calculation sheet. The intended workflow is quick entry, an explicit unit pair and a readable result. Its value should come from reducing ambiguity, not simply producing an answer with many decimal places.

Based on official store information. We have not tested this app hands-on.

What it does

The listing describes thirteen categories, favourites, history, search and copy controls. It distinguishes decimal from binary data units and US from imperial volume units.

The listing groups conversions into thirteen categories. These range from familiar length, mass and temperature to pressure, energy, power and frequency. Start by choosing the category that describes the quantity, then select both the source and destination unit. That sequence matters: a unit with a familiar abbreviation can mean something different in another context.

The developer specifically distinguishes decimal and binary storage units and US and imperial volume units. These are useful examples of why an interface should preserve the label with the value. A GB and a GiB are different quantities, just as the word gallon is incomplete without the relevant system. Do not remove that context when copying a result into a message or a worksheet.

Favourites and history can reduce repetition. A person who repeatedly compares two units may want to save that pair instead of finding it every time. History can be a route back to an earlier calculation, but it should not be treated as proof that the earlier input was correct. The listing also describes search, a swap control and clipboard copying. Those tools make repeated operations more convenient while leaving the user responsible for checking the selected direction.

Before you install

The label matters as much as the number: GB is not GiB, and US and imperial gallons differ. Check units and rounding for important calculations.

Accuracy includes the way a value is entered and displayed. Read the number back before relying on the output, particularly when decimal separators follow the device's regional format. The listing describes settings for precision, thousands separators, trailing zeros and scientific notation. Those are presentation choices; displaying more digits does not make an uncertain original measurement more precise.

Check important results against an independent reference appropriate to the work. For a recipe or a home project, confirm that the actual unit matches the intended one. In technical work, also understand whether an assumption belongs to the quantity rather than the conversion itself. A simple unit converter cannot resolve an ambiguous specification merely by returning a number. We have not validated every formula or tested regional input handling.

A swapped conversion is a useful check of direction, but it is not a complete accuracy audit: rounding can affect the return trip. Keep the original value available when comparing results. If a repeated task involves the same unusual unit, establish its definition first rather than relying on a similar name. For shared work, include the unit and the intended convention in the final text. The purpose of an offline converter is to make those choices easier to inspect, not to replace subject knowledge about the quantity being converted or guarantee that a copied specification was unambiguous.

Price and access

The Play listing describes free offline use without an account. Confirm any current store purchase disclosures.

The official description presents the tool as free, offline and without an account. It says favourites and history remain on the device and can be cleared. Confirm current purchase and advertising disclosures in the store rather than extrapolating from the free download alone. There is no reason to buy a broader tool merely because it contains more categories if the free workflow already covers the conversions actually needed.

Our take

Its focused appeal is reducing repeated lookup work. We have not independently validated every conversion formula or locale format.

The focused case for Unit Converter is a small interface that keeps the pair of units obvious and lets a person repeat common conversions quickly. It should be judged on clarity of input, direction and output, not just the quantity of named units.

We have not tested its calculations or accessibility. Try a few simple cases with known answers and verify that copying a result retains enough context for its destination. Keep intermediate precision when a result will be used in another calculation, and round only as the final use requires. When the input is uncertain, explain that uncertainty instead of presenting a very precise-looking converted value as an exact measurement.

The listing also describes large text, screen-reader support, phone and tablet layouts, and light or dark appearance. These are useful access considerations rather than proof that the interface suits every person. Someone repeatedly reading a value at a workbench may need different presentation from somebody copying a figure into another app. Check the actual display size, contrast and number format in the intended situation, keeping the units visible alongside the result.
