MySnaps reads a Snapchat data export that you obtain yourself and rearranges its media into a more familiar browsing structure. Its official description focuses on saved snaps, conversations and Memories that otherwise arrive as many difficult-to-recognise files. That makes it an archive reader, not a tool for accessing someone else's account or recovering material absent from the export. This first look is based on the App Store information, not a test of an actual personal archive.
The audience is someone who already has, or plans to request, their own export. The distinction is important because the app does not claim to connect to Snapchat's servers. Your ability to browse an item depends on what the downloaded archive contains and how it is structured, not on a new sign-in inside MySnaps.
Based on official store information. We have not tested this app hands-on.
What it does
The listing describes grouping chat-saved snaps by conversation and sender, keeping the sequence and showing associated context. Captions and drawings remain on the image, videos play within the browsing flow, and Memories can be viewed separately. That can make an archive more understandable than searching through filenames alone.
Other described options include hiding material you do not want to see, revisiting older memories and saving media to the camera roll with its original metadata. Those are different actions. Hiding something in a reader is not necessarily deleting it from the source export, and saving a copy can create another version to manage outside the app.
The developer says MySnaps makes no network requests, needs no account and reads only the export you provide. It supports full and Memories-only exports, including large multipart archives, according to the listing. We have not verified those capacity or processing claims. The practical evaluation is whether your own archive is recognised and presented accurately without losing the context that made it useful.
Before you install
An archive can contain information about other people as well as yourself. Private conversations, locations and identifying images deserve care even when processing is described as local. Choose where to keep the original package and who can access the device or any copies you create. Local handling is a useful privacy property, not a reason to ignore the content's sensitivity.
Obtaining the export is a separate process through Snapchat's official account service. Follow that service's instructions and do not give an unrelated app your credentials simply because it promises easier access. The listing explicitly says MySnaps does not need a Snapchat login. Keep the original export until you have inspected the imported result and any media you save elsewhere.
Use a representative small selection first: a conversation image, an annotated snap and a video where available. Compare the visible sender, order and content with what you know about the archive. If something is missing, determine whether the export omitted it before assuming the reader can reconstruct it. We have not tested every export format, metadata field or interrupted import.
Saving an image into the camera roll can make it easier to find, but it also changes the context in which it may appear. A private conversation image could surface in a shared album, a device search or a later cleanup workflow. Consider that destination before copying a large selection.
The app's import-deletion controls and the original export are separate storage decisions. Removing imported data should not be assumed to remove every source archive or camera-roll copy. Keep track of which locations contain the material so a privacy or cleanup decision is not based only on what remains visible in one interface. An independent archive reader should make the export easier to understand, not become the only surviving copy.
Price and access
Importing and reading start free, with access described for the most recent twelve months of media and the first ten saves to the camera roll. A one-time purchase unlocks the rest of the archive and unlimited saving. The listing says this is not a subscription.
Confirm the current local price and the exact limit shown before paying. If you mainly want a small recent selection, the free access may answer the practical question. If your reason to install it is older material, check that the archive itself contains what you need before assuming an unlock can reveal it.
Our take
MySnaps has a focused proposition: make a data export feel more like a collection of remembered conversations than a directory of technical filenames. That is useful when the organisation preserves meaning you would otherwise have to reconstruct manually. It should not be confused with an account backup service or a guarantee that every past snap is recoverable.
We have not tested import accuracy, large archives or metadata preservation. Our take is to evaluate the reader against a known sample while keeping the original untouched. Choose it if it helps you understand and retrieve your own export, with a clear distinction between the source archive, the app's imported view and any copies saved to Photos.
