GeoStamp: Metadata Overlay

Make a travel keepsake while understanding what the export reveals

Get it from the official store ↗

GeoStamp: Metadata Overlay puts capture information and decorative frames onto photographs and videos. Its official description combines straightforward stamps with keepsakes such as instant-film frames, postcards and travel tickets. The audience is someone who wants a memory to carry its context visibly, rather than rely only on hidden file information. This first look is based on the store listing, without testing exports or metadata preservation.

The key distinction is between visible text and the information inside the file. GeoStamp describes both an overlay and retained original metadata. That can be useful for a personal archive, but it means removing a visible coordinate is not necessarily the same as removing location information before sharing. Decide what the recipient should learn from both layers.

Based on official store information. We have not tested this app hands-on.

What it does

The listing describes batch stamping, a live preview and full-resolution photo output. Templates range from simple overlays to frames that make an image resemble a physical object. Pictures can be repositioned inside a keepsake, with choices for paper, ink and handwriting. Video templates keep the moving picture within the chosen frame and show a looping preview before export.

Available details include capture time, coordinates, a small map, place names, altitude, direction and camera information, plus a personal caption or logo. The editor can change position, fonts, size, weight, colour and background treatment. These are presentation choices; they should not be confused with verification that an image was made at the stated place or under the displayed conditions.

The description also names a camera mode, share-sheet access, a memories widget and weather for the capture context. Place & Time can add or correct the stamp without changing the source file's information. Exports are described as preserving capture date, location, camera and lens data, with HEIC or JPEG output and saving to Photos or a folder. We have not verified each of those paths.

Before you install

Inspect the information before applying a template to many pictures. A missing or incorrect location, an unexpected time zone or a manually adjusted stamp can produce a polished but inaccurate caption. A visual date is not proof of provenance, especially when the app explicitly supports editing what the stamp says. Keep original files if documentary meaning matters.

Privacy requires a separate export check. A home address, a child's routine or a precise travel location may be more detail than you intend to share. The listing says metadata remains in exports, so examine both the visible design and the file information. We have not tested a particular sharing destination's handling; different services may preserve, remove or transform metadata in different ways.

Maps and weather add another dependency. The developer says photographs stay on the device and coordinates are sent to Apple Maps for map drawing and place names. That is more specific than saying everything is entirely offline. Review permissions and the selected features, and do not interpret a decorative map or historical weather display as independent confirmation of the picture's authenticity.

A batch can contain pictures from several places and time zones. Review a representative sample rather than assuming that one attractive preview establishes the correctness of every stamp. The more detailed the template, the more source fields deserve attention.

Keep archive and sharing copies separate when their purposes differ. The original can retain valuable capture information privately, while a public version may need less context. GeoStamp's stated preservation is useful for one purpose and a reason to check carefully for the other; the right choice depends on the audience.

Price and access

GeoStamp is described as free to try, with a small Created with GeoStamp badge on exports. A one-time in-app purchase removes that badge across the user's devices. The retained description does not establish an exact purchase price, so check the current regional store page, compatible systems and purchase terms before upgrading.

The free export is useful for judging the actual result rather than only the editor preview. Compare readability, framing and file information in the destination you intend to use. The paid choice removes a stated branding element; it should not be treated as a guarantee of privacy, documentary authenticity or suitability for every professional workflow.

Our take

GeoStamp's strongest proposition is to make context part of the image's presentation. Batch templates and a choice between restrained overlays and playful keepsakes can support different kinds of memory. The useful discipline is to keep a clear relationship between what the original file contains, what the overlay says and what you are comfortable sharing.

We have not tested visual fidelity, video output, metadata retention, accessibility or privacy claims. Our take is to try one non-sensitive picture, inspect the exported file and share a draft through the intended route. Choose it when that result is both attractive and understandable. A stamp can enrich a keepsake, but it cannot establish the truth of a caption and should never accidentally disclose more context than the audience needs.
